Pure Water Conductivity Measurements according to the European Pharmacopoeia

The purity of water for use in the pharmaceutical industry is mainly controlled by its conductivity.
To comply with the European Pharmacopoeia, this measurement must be made according to chapter 2.2.38.

All low conductivity measurements are influenced by the CO2 content of the air. The CO2 effect contributes significantly to the overall uncertainty of the measurements. Measuring in a closed system is therefore preferable and a slight flow is advantageous.

The 26.6 µS/cm conductivity standard is prepared strictly as described in the Pharmacopoeia and high quality glass bottles are used for storage in order to avoid contamination.

Using the equipment and procedure described below ensures full compliance with chapter 2.2.38 of the European Pharmacopoeia. The control of "water for injections" (aqua ad iniectabilia) and other pure waters is dealt with.
